Ya’ll know I love an easy breezy dinner, and these marinated tuna steaks are just that. Really you could substitute the lemon pepper with any preferred seasoning (cajun, simple salt & pepper, Worcestershire & soy… you get the point), and they would still be delish!
Annnnyyywayyy, if you’re looking for an easy dinner to make tonight because you’re exhausted from the week already (Tuesday is just Monday Jr. amirite?), then just pop by your local grocery and pick up a couple of tuna steaks on your way home from work!
It takes about 5 minutes to prep the marinade, and I advise to let the steaks sit for a minimum of 30 minutes, but up to 2 hours before cooking. So realistically eeeeeven if you *have* to run by the grocery on your way home from work, you could do that, prep the steaks and still eat dinner at a reasonable hour 🙂 WINNER WINNER TUNA DINNER
- 4 oz. tuna steak
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- zest from peel of half slice of lemon
Combine all of the ingredients aside from the tuna in a ziplock bag, close, and shake to combine. Once well-mixed, at your tuna steak (*sidenote* you can use this marinade for up to four 4oz tuna steaks), and add the tuna. Shake to combine again. (I personally pierce my steaks a little before adding them for extra internal flavor, but you don’t have to). Let the tuna steaks marinate for 30 mins to 2 hours.
Heat a cast iron skillet or George Foreman grill on medium heat, and then add tuna steaks. Cook 4 minutes per side (or less if you like your center to be on the rare side). 8 minutes and you’re done! Seriously… that whoooole entire process takes less than 20 minutes. So if you’re one of those people who says they don’t cook because they don’t have time… you lying to yourself 😉
Let me know if you make this with any different kind of marinade and what you think!
